Overview

West Coast LEAF believes that women’s equality, and the recognition of the rights of all marginalized people, is the cornerstone of a free and democratic society.

West Coast LEAF’s public legal education program aims to help British Columbians learn about their equality rights while empowering them to access their legal rights and think critically about the law.  West Coast LEAF recognizes that if women are informed about their equality rights, they will be able to take an active role in asserting their rights and be able to mobilize to shape the laws that define them.  The program aims to transform public legal education, collaborate with diverse equality seeking groups, distribute public legal education materials, evaluate education initiatives and reflect West Coast LEAF’s initiatives.

Our education work is coordinated through the combined efforts of the Youth Program Coordinator and the Public Legal Education Manager. The PLE Committee’s work currently focuses on several youth education initiatives and programs.
